SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN NOT TO BE THEIR PREY Damn, that woman was cray-cray.
Darius very much wanted to leave, just take off and leave the other man to fend for himself against a crazed woman. But, that wasn't very chivalrous of him, was it? So, he grudgingly held his ground, fighting his instinct of flight. He was a defender of Naam, and if he was supposed to defend it against insane woman and leeches, then so be it.
Even though the young man was armed, Darius kept his attention on the woman. But, no. He was wrong, you could say. She was armed, if you counted leeches as a weapon. He himself did after seeing the intensity with which she hurled the small abomniations at the man. Perhaps he should suggest to the higher-ups that they stock their soldiers with leeches. But then a sudden thought occured to him:
Holy crap, why does she even have a basket of them?
Dang, you'd think that a young woman like her would be -like the other man had said- been skipping to her grandmother's house with delicious cookies. It may just be Darius, but he didn't quite think the leeches were appetizing. It might be tempting to eat if it were a basket of flowers, at least. But, sheesh, she just randomly goes around collecting leeches? He was seriously questioning her sanity. Also as the young man had pointed out, the two males in the situation were rather calm. Perhaps this was one of the many, many reasons why males were the dominant gender. The woman, on the other hand, looked like she was going to burst from the anger
But, her reason seemed legit enough. He couldn't argue with her wanting an apology. Darius himself thought it proper for the young man to give them an apology. Of course, he was used to never recieving an apology, but perhaps the young woman was more privileged and accustomed to getting an apology after being wronged. As she bent down to collect her things, Darius continued. "Hm, seems fair enough. "He remarked, trying to remain casual. " An apology seems reasonable, does it not?[/blockquote] STATUS; Complete WORD COUNT; 347 NOTES;... herp the derp

Well, she'd finally dropped her blood-sucking arrows. Although the woman seemed stunned by the fact that Ravis would even consider harming one of her precious leeches. That was weird on more ways than one, even for a demon. In no way whatsoever did he question her for having the stupid things though, they were hers and the why just didn't matter to him.
Dropping into a more relaxed stance now that the immediate danger was... seemingly sane for the moment, Ravis glanced over as the two agreed that he should have to apologize to the woman. 'So not happening.' he thought silently. There was no way in hell that he was going to apologize for stabbing a leech that was thrown at him. He was about to argue the matter until it occurred to him that the apology was actually for calling her childish when he was having fun insulting them. Well, if that were the case, then yes, he'd apologize. In no way would he truly mean it but he could at least act it out... dramatically of course.
"An apology?" Wide-eyed, Ravis looked at the two in turn with a surprised expression as if he were just coming to his senses, "Why would I-" he lay a hand over his mouth, seemingly wounded about something. Shyly he inched over to the woman until he was only about a foot and a half away. There was only an inch difference in their height at most, him being the taller, but he had his head bowed slightly, causing them to be on equal ground. "I... I'm not sure what I did, but I deeply apologize for it. It's just been a really tough day for me since this morning so I guess my demonic personality came out." Although it was risky admitting he was a demon, he'd heard of his kind having split personalities, some were from changing into demon form, but some were random.. Humans called it some kind of personality disorder right?
Either way, the only thing wrong with Ravis was the fact that he was a chronic liar- convincing at times, but still a liar.
He glanced over at the guard, "You I remember, I guess you cut me down." looking back down at his feet he noticed the rope loop that was still clinging there and carefully loosened it to step out. "Thank you, I thought my head was going to explode before much longer." Ravis offered a small smile of 'thanks' to the man before looking back at the woman. "Could you ever forgive me?"

Oh, ho ho! At least one man was brave enough to agree with her. Her light-blue eyes were dead set on the other one, but as usual he seemed to be in the worst of mood and not cooperating with her at all. Before she had a chance to challenge his first question the simple 'An apology?'. But his closeness made her a bit wary. His attitude was a cock asshole that just wanted to show her up and not even be half-way considerate. If it were not for the fact she was holding back half her anger right now, she would have smacked hi straight across the face. To almost felling the heat of his skin, yuck. Not her most fancied cup-of-tea.
'I deeply apologize for it.' Deeply apologize, my ass. You sarcastic half wit. Her teeth grinded together while the man talked to the other. That was highly courtesy for a man to do. Stop talking to a lady and not give her a chance to reply. Her leeches in hand, she waited until the man had at least some sense of talking to her again. Overhearing something about a head exploding, damnit. Rebekka was offended. But that tiny devil inside her subsided fairly quickly – as she had not given away her status as a healer at all.
And what happened, he did! Would you look at that?
If It were not for anger, Rebekka would have burst out laughed if he continued with nonsense and carade of trying to appease her. She flipped her hair back, making it seem like she did not care what he had to saw. Her hand came up to her face, Bekka inspecting her nails like they needed to be. (Yeah, mhm, right. Two could play this game.) “Oh, I guess...” The woman said, shrugging her shoulders until... “Hell no. Women don't appreciate being called a child or be talked to like one.” Her stare did not falter as she was waiting for some smart-ass remark from the man.

FISTS AGAINST MY FACE, THEY BRING ME TO MY KNEES† As the armed man relaxed himself, Darius did the same. Clearing his throat once, he watched the developments as they took place. Both of them seemed less tense now, at least as far as he could tell, so there wasn't much of a need to be on guard. You couldn't really be sure around a psychopathic woman armed with leeches. But, then again, she seemed satisfied enough. Until the man began his apology speech, that is.
Darius listened intently as the young man closed the distance between him and the woman and began explaining himself. In all honestly, Darius would have left it at that, just accepted it as it was for the sake of simplicity. Yanno, forgive and forget, right? Of course, though, the woman was also armed with the stubborness of a donkey. Dangit, woman, just accept it, he wanted to say.
Darius' eyes widened only slightly at realizing the young man's true race. He hadn't even guessed that he was a demon, but it made sense if he thought about it. It was odd seeing one so close to Nilisk village, though. And caught in a trap. It made him wonder if that trap had been set there purposefully for a particular demon. But, because there was no crime, he had no basis on which to arrest him. Unfortuantely.
It was true, though, that the man might not be entirely genuine with his words. In fact, it was most likely that than anything else. Even so, Darius was willing to get on with his life. But a feeling like obligation kept him there in order to see things along smoothly. He only gave a small nod of recognition at the thanks he was given.
"Let's be reasonable, miss, shall we? " Darius urged, focussing on the lady. " You've gotten what you want. What else are you asking for?"[/blockquote] STATUS; Complete WORD COUNT; 306 NOTES; On to my Gilbird~

Was that... no it couldn't be... Ah but it could, a flicker of amusement crossed the demon's face. It was gone in an instant, but for a second it showed that this woman was actually turning out to be quite interesting. Stubborn and mulish, yet highly entertaining. If it hadn't been for the fact that he needed the materials for the trap he might actually have wanted her to stick around and trade insults with him. Although that might lead to more leech throwing... eh, it'd be worth it to have someone to tease.
As strangely fun as she was though, again, there was work to be done and unexpectedly the guard might actually turn out to be a great deal useful once again. He seemed indifferent to the matter, wanting to be on his way home most likely, the man wasn't even going to arrest Ravis on the sole reason that he was a demon. Defiantly his lucky time of day.
Reasonable? Hah... ahaha... yes, lets. Please reasonably turn around and walk away.. Now that he thought about though, why was the guard still here? He'd rescued the damsel in distress assisted Ravis and calmed the situation down to where a fight wasn't likely to erupt, what else was there for him to do escort them both safely home in case a demon tried to kill the woman or a dragon try and kill him? Hopefully not likely...
'Awe who's throwing a cute little temper tantrum?' Though Ravis grinned at the thought of saying the snide remark just to see her puff up like a fish again, he restrained himself. "A child? I see no child before me, only a lovely woman. Is there really something else you might have me do for you?" He would be civil now, that was that. Once his mind was set, there was no... okay well he changed his mind allot actually, but Ravis would behave for the time being.

The male was not playing it cool, as if she was going to be persuaded in other ways to act different. Unlikely, but she had to be heading home soon and this was just going to end up with her bullish behavior taking a walk on him again. He might be sarcastic and witty, but it was not fooling her. The guard seemed to be taking the other side now, but the woman just held onto her leeches and mumbled 'nothing' under her breath.
And then it was time to get out of this situation. Or the flames of hell inside her would start to rise... consuming the people around her.
“Unlike you, I will be taking my leave now.” Rebekka pivoted on her right heel and headed to the north east where the healers house was. “If you ever... ever need me again, I'll be at Lady Garitte's Healer's House. Until then, good day.” She bowed her head with a curtsied before dragging her basket of leeches again. Knowing that they were villages, she would have to keep a close eye on them, commoner or guard. The most laid back of people were the ones that caused the most trouble.
Her pink hair flowed behind her as she rushed through the swarms of people again. She had just left a... most bothersome situation and knew she would be yelled at the second she had arrived back at the healer's house. It seemed a few soldiers were coming back when she had stopped by the main street. Great. First I get into that mess and now... that... A faint image of the redheaded man popped into her head, a growl came from her mouth. “Damned... assdickface. Go screw yourself.” A child looked at her before, Bekka gave him a cheesy grin – sending him off running towards the hills. Oh, children were too innocent at their young ages, like they ought to be.
Through the door, the old woman with her brown-gray streaked hair and bulging stomach. Her cane was sent towards Rebekka's head, the girl barely deflecting it in hopes to not be scared. A lecture on being late and what not. Putting her hand to her face, the young one just kept her calm. This she was used to. A couple men were coming in now and being escorted by an even younger worker to the bed. Rebekka's cue to go in the back and ready the leeches. Fun... oh... so much fun...

PRESSURE DOWN SO HARD I CAN'T BREAK FREE† Though things turned out rather well, in his opinion, Darius didn't feel accomplishment. He didn't feel the satisfying emotion of 'job well done'. And it was gnawing at his stomach. Or liver. Something in that area. It made him want to resolve the issue better. If he thought about it, it hadn't been resolved at all. In actuality, the woman just stepped away from the situation, not wanting to deal with the young man any longer.
The name of her destination rang in his head for a moment or two. Lady Garitte's Healing House, huh? The leeches in her basket suddenly made sense to him, as the small bugs were common healing tools. The thought didn't comfort him any, though. Darius was about to turn toward the village and head to the healer's house, but stopped himself. It was more polite to make a proper farewell, no? Even if he wasn't being treated with respect, he was kind enough to treat others with respect.
"Don't be getting caught in any other animal traps, you hear? " He said with a small smile. " The next person to come across you might not be as nice as myself." With that, he left the young man and the trap behind. Darius felt no compulsion to make peace with the young man. After all, it wasn't as if he was searching for closure. The young woman, on the other hand, was more shaken by this encounter, and, as a chivalrous defender of Naam, it was his duty to make sure the citizens were safe and content. Not to mention, Darius wouldn't mind -ahem- getting to know the young woman better. Though he wasn't a native of the village, he had visited enough times to know the general layout. The building, if he remembered correctly, was lying in the north east. As he casually walked through the village, he was constantly reminded of his responsibility, his burden, to the people. When he arrived at the healing house, Darius hesitated a moment, second guessing his decision to come there. But, his steely obligation forced him to open the door and enter. Upon entering, he took in the usual picture of a healing house. Nothing particularly stood out. After noticing an older woman, presumably this Lady Garitte, he approached her. " Ah, hello." Darius greeted her politely. " I'm looking for a young woman about, uhh, this tall" -he made a gesture at only a couple inches shorter than himself.- "Uhh, sorta long hair and carrying a basket full of leeches."[/blockquote] STATUS; Complete WORD COUNT; 415 NOTES; I am so bad at multitasking...

"Will do." Actually, just to annoy the girl sometime later if he did sustain an injury he might go visit her to poke fun. Ravis had never known a healer before, maybe it would come in handy one day like if a dragon practically ripped his arm off... that would suck.. but at least he'd have somewhere to go. Might be unwise to annoy someone while they treat you though Whateeeever.
Ravis leaned casually against the tree, man it felt good to be alone again. Well, mostly alone. "I'll try my best, but no promises." He grinned back with ease, that was probably the truest thing he had said to the guy all day, Ravis noticed him leaving in the direction the women had gone even though he'd been heading the opposite way out of town when they met. "oh ho ho, what do you know." Apparently crazy leech lady was going to have an unexpected guest. "Tell her I'll stop by someday too lover-boy!" he called out, positive that the guard will know who exactly to tell. The idea to tell the other man his name crossed his mind, but no, that wouldn't do, you'd think Ravis had actually liked both humans company. Phft, as if... Anyway-
Sweet mother of all that is evil and delicious they had finally left. As soon as the guard was out of sight Ravis packed up all the leftover materials. It'd be bothersome to make a new loop with metal shards in it, but it was worth it to be on the ground. A beautiful day, that's what today way. Looking up into the branches the demon heaved a heavy sigh, his world was quiet once again for the time. He wondered if he'd ever run into those two again... probably not, but oh well. "Whelp, lets go trap us an unexpected victim and take his wallet." Ravis headed off to a more populated road to set up the trap and leave it there for the day. -Exit Ravis stage left-

Taking one of the knives, Rebekka slit a leech open. She had to make sure this batch was good enough before she put them into their jars. The one that ad been cut was full of blood and would need a feeding in a week or so, and it seemed that way for a couple of them she could eye form the top of the basket. The door came open, odd, it was the front door. If there were injured soldiers, they came in through the side. Rebekka bit her lips and wondered who this was. The group she had seen earlier had not shown up yet, but she also had a job to do.
A younger girl welcomed him, though his request was very direct. Her nose went up and eyed him. She had never come back with a boy. Odd, odd, odd. Lady Garitte had seen the girl looking him up and down, as if judging him. The boy did not deserve such a thing. But he mentioned leeches. So he had seen Rebekka. Her old fingers stroked her chin and decided to answer. It humored her a guard, lowly one at that, would have any interest in her. 'In the back.'

WHEN I CAN FEEL MY SKIN CRAWL,† Darius wasn't a very nervous person, usually. But under the watchful eyes of the woman, he couldn't help but fidget only slightly. Eyes glancing around the building and arms stiffly at his sides, he hoped he didn't look too out of place. He was glad when he was finally answered, though it was rather curt.
Going toward the 'back', Darius tried to formulate some sort of excuse for his being there. Lucky for him, he was still nervous and was able to make an okay excuse, in his opinion. When he caught sight of her, he almost hesitated. His eyes first went to the knife in her hand, a soldierly instinct telling him to defend himself. But, no. His eyesight swept to the cut leech she held in her other hand.
Ew.
Offering a small smile despite the small worm-thingy, he began brightly. "Hey, there, miss. Uhh, remember me from just a little bit ago? " He optimistically hoped that she had calmed down since the argument. Now that she was properly armed, he didn't want to go pissing her off again.[/blockquote] STATUS; Complete WORD COUNT; 177 NOTES; asdfghjkl;

When she heard footsteps coming into the room, Rebekka saw the guard from earlier. At first, she was determined to run him out and make sure that he was not going to come near her. But his disposition was calm, collected, like it was before. Thank god she was not going to be arrested. Or at least for the time being. Fiddling with the leech in her hand, she took out on of the clear jugs, and placed him inside of it. Wiping her hands off on one of the twoels, Rebekked gulped a bit of her spit, nasty as it was.
Smiling, she took a step towards him and then realized the knife wanted to stay in her hand. Now that was going to just be bad approaching with a knife. Rebkka tossed it onto the table while shyly glancing at something else. “Yes, I remember you... near the tree.” Hands behind her back, Rebekka was nervous at what he wanted to do with her. It had to be something respectable or why would he follow her back so quickly. Outside there was the clamor of soldiers coming in soon, she stared at the guard.
“So... what brings you here? I doubt it is my leeches.” Rebekka asked, trying to drown the noise outside... out. She was still a good five feet away from him, a slight blush like the color of her hair started to brim her cheeks.

WHEN I'M ABOUT TO CRACK,† Though he imagined that the woman would be calmer compared to earlier during the argument, Darius did not think that she would be so... gentle-looking. It isn't to say that she previously hadn't looked feminine, but now, she appeared much softer, for lack of a better word. It made him second guess his first impression on her.
Darius watched as she put the cut leech into a jar. After that slightly disgusting act, she took on a much shyer and cuter atmosphere. It such a stark contrast that he stopped in his mental tracks for a moment. From psycho, leech-hurling biatch to blushing, delicate young woman. Dang it, women really were bipolar.
Darius subtly bit his lip, the atmosphere becoming somewhat thick and syrupy, like they were speaking underwater. "Nah, you can keep your leeches. " He chuckled slightly, then cleared his throat. " I just came to apologize again on behalf of the man back there. If I hadn't waited in cutting that rope, he wouldn't have been so angry. I'm a pretty crappy guard, huh?" Darius forced himself to appear more relaxed. Dang, he was looking like an awkward teenage boy. Leaning back only slightly, he tried to give off an air of 'cool' and, as far as he could tell it worked reasonably well. He didn't look too involved, but still interested enough to seem to be caring enough. That's what girls liked, right?[/blockquote] STATUS; Incomplete Complete WORD COUNT; 232 NOTES;Blargh

He was being so concerned about not being good enough at his position. Rebekka had never said such a thing at all. Taking a breather, she noticed him looking at her a bit weird. Was it the way she was acting as well. Granted, she was being much too quiet for her own good when she was normally a loud mouth. "Oh, really. I mean he would have been cranky either way now that I think about it." A hand to her head, slapping it a couple times for being so stupid to think out loud. Smiling, she knew that she'd have to show some hospitality that he had come over to make sure she was fine.
Leeches. No. Some of the herbs, no. Glancing around the room, she found the jarred strawberries the Lady always ate. Expensive as they were in this time period, they were the only food she could offer. Running towards it, Rebekka pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and got that and a glass plate. "Here." Finding a chair, she looked like a wreck right now, trying to get everything for a guy. The little girl had looked in, giggling at her. A shot back at her, and she snapped back into the other room.
"Rebekka Syversten, by the way. I didn't manage to catch your name." She said cooly, like... the guard hadn't already noticed.

THE HUNGER FOR REVENGE GIVES ME THE STRENGTH TO STAND† Darius was still a little bit on edge. That isn't to say he was afraid of this woman. Heavans, no. How could he, a brave and chivalrous soldier of Naam, be afraid of a simple village girl? It was impossible. Even if she did have her moments with the leeches and all, he was a trained soldier. He feared nothing and fought for the welfare of his citizens and, most importantly, of justice and all that was good.
He was not going to balk in the presence of a girl.
Though he said that, Darius wasn't able to make a reply to her reassurance of the younger man's crankiness. He wanted to contradict her, assuring her that it was indeed his fault, but he wasn't able to bring the words out of his mouth. He observed quietly as her eyes scanned the room. Suddenly self-conscious, he wasn't sure what to think. It wasn't until she came bearing gifts that he realized she was showing hospitality. It really hadn't struck him that perhaps she was trying to be polite. Well, wasn't he observant? He mentally slapped himself for being so ignorant as well as not making a move to help her. Gee, how gentlemanly, right
Taking the glass plate of strawberries from the woman and slowly taking a seat, Darius gave her a sweet smile of thanks. He looked down at the strawberries, such a rare treat to find nowadays. He felt bad by taking it, but he would also feel bad by refusing it. To compromise with himself, he brought one up to his mouth and took a small bite. The burst of flavor tempted him to eat the whole plate, but he stopped at one.
"Ah, I'm Darius Vincent. " He introduced himself. " It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Rebekka."[/blockquote] STATUS; Incomplete WORD COUNT; 298 NOTES;...

Glad that he was taking the strawberries, she could sense Darius was upset for even taking one. With the amount the Lady had made, strawberries were not the famed delicacy that most thought of them thought. Nodding her head, she curtsied to him and twirled a second while she had to go back to the leeches across the table. “Don't mind me while cutting these and inspecting. I'll get yelled at if I don't.” A grimace on her face, she tasted a soured strawberry as if her boss was actually looking at her, judging her, wanting her to mess up like this.
One more leech in her hand, Rebekka looked at the guard, him happy to be eating the plate that was in front of him. “So... what brings you to the army? I know it's a stupid question, knowing you are a guard and most men want to for good reasons... but...” She bit down on her lip enough for it to bleed. Hand up to it, she looked at the blood and took a napkin while she picked up leeches one by one until the blood coagulated and stopped coming out. Some of the slime oozed out as the leech scrambled to get out of her hand and attack the fresh, man blood that was from her. She had to take both hands to shove it back into the jar and close up the one jar and go onto the next.
Rebekka waved her forehead as it sweated. Probably was disgusted by this displace of hospitality that was called 'leech shifting'. For the most part, Darius had been staying in a calmed state and her, well, that was a different story. Leaning onto the table during her little break, she looked like she was about to pray to the gods, which she somewhat wanted to do. “God, I feel like a shitty hostess.” She mumbled while grabbing the other jar, her face pink from embarrassment and.. sweat from work.
“But...I'm still curious on the guard...thing...history... that stuff.” Horrible grammar was horrible. She'd beat herself up for it later.
